Wisp is a local scratch sheet for iPhone and iPad, developed by Michael Lee. This policy covers the Wisp app and its support pages. You do not need a Wisp account. The current app has no developer-operated note server, advertising, tracking, or analytics SDKs. Wisp does not upload your sheet or recovery copies to its developer.
Your sheet and recovery
Wisp saves your current text on your device as you edit. Closing the app does not intentionally clear it, and the current sheet has no automatic expiry. It stays until you edit, clear, or replace it.
Using Clear, starting a fresh sheet from a widget, or restoring a different sheet keeps a local recovery copy of the displaced text for 30 days. Ordinary editing is not a version history. Tap the wisp wordmark to find Recent wisps. Clearing is therefore not an immediate deletion of every local copy.
Recovery expires 30 days after a sheet is cleared or replaced. Wisp checks for expired copies during app activity, including opening the app and accessing recovery, and removes them then. It does not run a continuous deletion timer while closed. A deletion failure can delay removal until a later attempt. Unreadable recovery files also receive an expiry based on their last-modified date; if that date is unavailable, Wisp records when it first detects the file and uses a bounded 30-day fallback.
You can remove recovery copies sooner using Recent wisps → Delete All and confirming. This removes the recovery archive, including damaged copies, and ends any remaining Clear Undo opportunity. It does not change your current sheet. If deletion fails, Wisp reports the problem so you can retry.
Wisp marks current-sheet and recovery storage for exclusion from device backups. The system treats that setting as guidance, not a guarantee about every backup. Wisp does not provide iCloud note sync or a server backup. Use Share to save text somewhere else when you want a separate copy. Removing the app can remove its local text and recovery; do not rely on reinstalling or restoring a device backup to recover them.
Widgets
Wisp maintains a separate on-device cache of up to the first 1,200 characters of the current sheet for its Home Screen widgets. The cache is shared between Wisp and its widget extension, and does not contain the recovery archive. Wisp also stores a local Pro-access flag for widget presentation; the app verifies access with StoreKit before performing a paid action.
When the sheet changes, Wisp updates this preview and requests a widget refresh. Clearing the sheet attempts to remove the cached preview. Apple controls when widgets redraw, so a previously rendered preview can remain visible temporarily after editing or clearing. Anyone who can see a widget showing your text can read that preview. Apple explains widget refresh scheduling.
Text you choose to share or use with other apps
- Share: Wisp passes the current text to Apple's share sheet. The destination you choose, such as Notes, receives that text and handles it under its own settings and privacy practices. A copied or exported version is independent of Wisp's recovery period.
- Paste: Wisp uses the system paste control to insert text you choose to paste. Its availability checks look for supported clipboard content types, rather than reading the clipboard's text into a developer service.
- System text tools: When you choose Writing Tools, Dictation, or Ask Siri from Apple's text controls, Apple processes the selected text or context according to your device settings and its privacy practices. Wisp does not operate an AI service or send your draft to its developer.
- Siri and Shortcuts: Pro read actions return the current sheet to Siri or the calling shortcut; a Siri response may speak it aloud. Append actions receive text supplied by you or another shortcut action and add it to the sheet. A shortcut can pass returned text to other apps or services. Apple's processing and the rest of your shortcut are governed by their respective settings and privacy practices.
On iOS/iPadOS 27, Wisp identifies the current sheet to Siri AI using the fixed label Current Wisp. Entity discovery does not include your draft's text or recovery copies. Wisp does not submit your sheet or recovery text to Spotlight's search index. Reading text through Wisp's actions requires Pro access and device authentication.
Clearing Wisp does not delete copies you have shared, clipboard copies, Siri/Shortcuts outputs, or data retained by another app or service.
Purchases and diagnostics
Wisp Pro is an optional one-time in-app purchase using Apple's StoreKit. Apple handles the App Store transaction. Wisp uses verified transaction and entitlement information to unlock Pro and restore access; Wisp does not collect payment-card details through its own payment form. See Apple's App Store privacy information for Apple's handling of purchase and account information.
The app can write local system diagnostics for widget-cache failures, such as an error domain and code. These messages do not contain your sheet text. Wisp does not include a third-party analytics or crash-reporting service. Apple may process system and App Store diagnostics according to your device settings and Apple's policies.
External resources and support
Privacy and Support are included in Wisp and can be read without a connection. Opening an external reference, such as an Apple information page, uses that website and its privacy practices.
The optional web feedback form prepares your selected request type and details in your browser, then passes them to your email app. It does not upload the form contents to a feedback server or attach your Wisp sheet or recovery copies. You review the draft and choose whether to send it. Your email provider handles delivery to our support inbox, including your sending address so we can reply. The form explains its hosting and support-inbox privacy practices.
When asking for support, describe the problem using invented sample text. Do not include personal notes, private screenshots, payment details, or other sensitive information in a report.
For support or privacy questions, email support+wisp@milee.dev. You can also open Settings → Support for help. The developer cannot retrieve your local sheet from a note server.
Website and support messages
These pages and Wisp’s feedback form are hosted by Cloudflare. Loading them involves technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, including your IP address and request details. We do not add advertising or analytics scripts to these pages. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for its handling of website traffic.
The feedback form prepares a draft locally in your browser. It does not send form contents to a feedback database. If you choose to send the draft, your email provider delivers your message and sending address to our iCloud support inbox. We use that information to respond to your request. Messages may remain in the inbox for follow-up. To request deletion of a support message, reply to the email or contact support+wisp@milee.dev.
We cannot retrieve or delete your on-device sheet remotely. To remove local text, clear the current sheet, then use Recent wisps → Delete All to remove recovery copies. Copies you exported to other apps need to be managed in those apps.
Changes and contact
This policy describes the current version of Wisp. If its features or data practices change, this page will be updated with a new revision date. For privacy questions or requests concerning information you sent to support, contact Michael Lee at support+wisp@milee.dev.
